ABOUT ME
Hi there, I'm Lauren.
I am an outstanding and highly experienced teacher of physics. I began my tutoring business in 2021 and now, after 20 years teaching, and leading physics and science departments in successful comprehensive, grammar and independent schools, I have left the classroom to enable me to focus on my tutoring full time.

I have a BSc (Hons) in Physics from Cardiff University and am a fully qualified teacher of physics specialising in Key Stage 3 through to A Level. I am also an examiner for IGCSE and GCSE Physics, having taught both for a number of years.
​
Quite simply, I love what I do. I am a dedicated and engaging teacher who is committed to inspiring students to achieve their very best through meeting their individual needs within a trusting, supportive and nurturing environment. My style of teaching is very interactive and requires students to take a proactive role in their learning to allow them to develop their understanding so that they can apply their knowledge in different contexts as required.
I am a reflective teacher and enjoy experimenting with new technologies and looking for new ways to deliver content to my students. I excel in developing resources which support students and am able to break topics down into key concepts and explain them in a clear way which instills confidence within my students which allows them to move forward with their understanding.

I have previously worked as a Teacher Fellow for The Ogden Trust which has involved developing enrichment resources and activities to inspire students outside of the classroom. I have also been involved in delivering training sessions to groups of primary school teachers to equip them with the skills and confidence to improve their science, and particularly physics, teaching at KS1 and KS2.

When I'm not teaching I have a pretty busy home life and love nothing more than spending time with my husband, who is a geography teacher and Pastoral Director of Learning, and our very energetic 6 year old daughter! We live on the south coast and spend as much time as possible on or in the water. We enjoy a variety of sports and both enjoy our fitness, having invested a lot of time (and money!) turning our garage into a home gym during lockdown! We share our home with our 2 cats.
